OUTREACHThe Outreach Ministry moves the people of Poplar Creek Church out in the community--locally, nationally, and worldwide. We contribute some church funds to specific ministries and organize volunteers to serve the community through work days, collection drives and mission trips. New ideas are welcome and carefully considered.
Questions and comments can be emailed to outreach@poplarcreek.com. Ministry Partners
CRU (Hoovers) We partner with Caleb and Jenny Hoover as they serve with CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ) at Northern Illinois University helping encourage, support and grow strong Christian leaders. Kids Against Hunger - Fox Valley We partner with Kids Against Hunger – Fox Valley which packages and delivers nutritious meals to Nicaragua and locally and raises awareness about the hunger in our world. Ontarioville Elementary School A team of volunteers partner with School District U-46 at Ontarioville Elementary School in Hanover Park. Working with the students, staff, and families, volunteers support this local community through education, activities, and hope for a better future. The volunteers help in the classroom, organize holiday food and gift drives, run a Girl Scout Troop, celebrate top-performing students with an ice cream social, and much more. New volunteers would allow more students to be served. Art and Denice Avilies Art and Denice and their family have been Poplar Creek missions partners for many years serving the Dadjo people of Chad Africa through Bible translation and linguistics. Over the years their team has helped to develop a written form of the Dadjo language and has made great strides in translating the word of God into their language. Giving Garden From the grounds at Poplar Creek Church to local schools and food pantries, vegetables are grown and distributed to families in need by volunteers with love for gardening and their fellow man. Other Outreach Connections Henk and Allie Oosterhuis Through the organization One Collective (Formerly ITeams), Henk and Allie Oosterhuis serve at the Athens Refugee Center in Greece. Many refugees from various places such as the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa have become stuck in Athens as they try to travel further into Europe. At the Athens Refugee Center, they are provided with meals and practical help, along with a listening ear. Henk and Allie's ministry combines practical service and relationship building, with opportunities to share Christ's love. They need our prayers and financial support and would love to hear from you! www.henknallie.com/joinourteam | www.onecollective.org email: henk.oosterhuis@onecollective.org |
