Welcome to Poplar Creek Church
Below you will find links that allow you to participate in Sunday morning worship remotely. Each Sunday morning at 10:30 AM we will stream the Sunday service live. Below, we also have Going Deeper questions for adults to help with your learning and engagement of the sermon.
God is Faithful: True Righteousness | 6.11.23
Isaiah 58
1. Is there anyone you have been treating poorly? How might you reconcile with them? Why does how we treat others matter to God?
2. On a scale of 1 to 10, rate the level of control you have over your tongue? Why is true righteousness, a life of worship, directly tied to how we use our tongue? (Matthew 12:34, James 1:26-27) What might you do to gain greater control over your tongue?
3. When have you found yourself acting religious in order to gain a particular outcome from God? (e.g., fasting, attending church, giving financially) What was the outcome of this behavior in your life and what was a part of the remedy for this behavior?
4. How are you currently serving the interests of the poor and oppressed and marginalized? Which of the blessings listed in Isaiah 58 have you experienced in serving others?
5. What links are there between being “polluted by the world” (James 1:27) and failing to keep the Sabbath (Isaiah 53:13)? To what worldly influences are you regularly exposed that discourage true righteousness?
