Schick's Crossing Preschool

Welcome to Schick's Crossing Preschool

Our Purpose:

Schick's Crossing preschool exists to create a loving, Christian World-View environment in which young children (ages 2–5) can learn and grow. We strive to instill in each child a love of learning that will last a lifetime, as well as build the social skills necessary to succeed in elementary schools and beyond.
Children are encouraged to explore, build, create, ask questions, and interact in an environment rich in tools for early learning. Each child is special and comes to us with different needs. We will do our best to meet the individual needs of your child.

Facilities

Picture
Schick's Crossing Preschool is located in Poplar Creek Church at historic Schick's Crossing. One hundred years ago this 9-acre location was a rail spur for loading local farm products for shipment to Chicago markets.

Today, this site retains much of its historic rural character, but also is home to Poplar Creek church. The facility was opened in November of 2003, and the Preschool is housed in the 5,000 sq. ft. garden level “Children's Space.” There are 2 spacious classrooms and a large, multi-use “gym area” designated for preschool use.

Our outdoor playground was designed with your child's safety in mind--from the secure, locked fence and rubber chip ground cover to the equipment created specifically for preschoolers.

Security

Our facilities our secured by an alarm system and the preschool play areas outside are fenced and under constant supervision (when children are present).
All entrances remain locked during the school day except during drop-off times. Any individual desiring access to the building must be buzzed in by preschool staff or escorted in by church staff.
All children must be signed in and out by a parent or responsible guardian. No child will be allowed to leave with anyone who is not listed on the child's emergency form.
You can visit our location any time during the day. A call ahead is always helpful, but if you are driving by - stop in.

Our Staff

Each member of our staff is dedicated to the care and education of young children. Training is done throughout the year to encourage our teachers to come up with new, creative ideas all year long.
Background checks are done on all prospective teachers, and each one will be required to have CPR and First Aid training/certification. We will always meet or exceed DCFS student/teacher ratios.
